What is Mediation?
Mediation is a constructive process in which an impartial third party, the Mediator, assists people to resolve disputes and reach agreements for a way forward.
Who can access Mediation? Anyone who wishes to resolve a conflict they are experiencing can access our mediation service. We take self referrals along with referrals from other professionals e.g. community workers, social workers, human resources etc. We specialise in working with families and in the workplace. If you are experiencing conflict with a family member, an ex-partner or a colleague please contact us for more information. We consider children and young people in all the family mediation we undertake and work with parents to ensure their views are included where appropriate. How long does Mediation take? We aim to complete the mediation process within 4 weeks of an initial enquiry and it is often sooner, but all mediations are undertaken at the pace of the person/s requesting the service. How much does Mediation cost? We aim to provide a mediation service that is accessible. Unlike most mediation services we charge per hour not per person. The cost can be split between the parties if required. Charges can be provided upon request. The average mediation for 2 people takes approximately 8 hours. This includes 2 individual meetings of up to 1 hour each. Up to 2 joint meetings, the first of up to 2.5 hours and an optional review meeting of up to 1.5 hours and the completion of the mediation agreement of which both parties will receive a copy. What is Conflict Coaching? Conflict Coaching is offered to individuals who are experiencing high levels of stress or difficulty, due to a challenging situation, and for where mediation is either not appropriate or not an option. The Conflict Coach will work with the individual to help them build strategies to deal with the situation they are facing. This could be a family situation, such as managing difficult relationships or situations, or it could be to support someone in their work situation e.g someone managing a demanding new role or team, or to support someone to change patterns of behaviour when it comes to dealing with challenging situations or behaviours in others. Conflict Coaching is shaped around the individual requesting the service and sessions can be had remotely e.g. via Skype, or in person (depending on location). Contact us for more information on what we might be able to offer you. Professional Supervision for Mediators ChangeMaker provides mediation supervision for other mediators. Our mediation professional practice consultant is registered by the College of Mediators as meeting the requirements of a mediation supervisor. |
